Just a quick question

Post by ProtoType on Thu Mar 05 2015, 16:50

Has anyone heard of the site Patreon? I've just discovered it and I'm interested in it. However due to my size I cannot get a lot of backing, so for the most part it is useless to me. But I was wondering if any other larger YouTubers use it? Should it be avoided? Or is it something to consider? I'd like to know your thoughts and opinions on the site. Here is a link for those who want to have a look.

Definitely a great site and to be considered once a channel gets bigger and has the fan base and demand to warrant getting donations to help bring more content and exclusive content to those loyal fans Smile

I was seeing how a fair amount of people are starting to earn a living off of it and it would be something I would consider if/when I get a larger fan base that want to donate to my channel. Which is a fair way off mind you.

I signed up to Patreon a few weeks ago. I don't have any Patrons at the moment, but I am supporting one youtuber that I've been a follower of for a while. It seems like a great idea, and though you can set up regular donations to people you patron, you're not tied in to any kind of contract.

Does it cost anything to set up and keep going? Or is it a percentage of what you earn?
